Upper
The ZG Prime’s upper is made with the special Adidas Primeknit material. Primeknit is specifically engineered to expand with the foot’s movement. The Primeknit material is a yarn-based material with a compression fit. This cloth-like material will be able to keep you comfortable because you will feel like you are walking or running in socks. The only downside to the upper is that some users complained that the Primeknit material is restricted their feet. This feedback varies depending on the user, so while I wouldn’t say it’s a definite setback, it is something to consider before purchasing.
Midsole
The full-length midsole of this sneaker features a Boost technology which consists of TPU capsules that create an efficient amount of energy return upon each stride. The energy pellets within the midsole squeeze together each time they hit the ground, absorbing any impact that may occur during your run. Primeknit is a light, durable cloth material that decreases the weight of the shoe while providing structure. The Primeknit upper looks as though there isn’t much in terms of ventilation. However, the material is very thin, the breathability is very good in this shoe. Your feet will stay cool and dry during your run.
Comfort
The Adidas ZG Prime is very comfortable. Starting with the upper, the Primeknit material is extremely soft. The person wearing these sneakers has the freedom to move as the Primeknit expands with the user’s feet. The midsole and outsole also contain a large amount of cushioning that will keep your feet comfortable no matter how far you run. The high amount of cushioning absorbs impact keeps feet from feeling fatigued.
Style
Adidas ZG Prime is a unique looking shoe. The upper looks like a hybrid mixture between modern and futuristic. Instead of being placed at the midfoot like most Adidas shoes, the trademark Adidas stripes are located towards the forefoot. This refreshing look distinguishes the Boost line from other Adidas sneakers. There are many color combinations available for this shoe.
Durability
A majority of this sneaker’s durability comes from the outsole. The outsole is made with a durable EVA rubber. You can run for a long time without seeing any signs of use, and that is one factor that makes the ZG Prime a desirable running shoe. The outsole has a pattern similar to that of a spider web and takes a long time to start wearing down. Even when the outsole begins to show use, it wouldn’t get to the point where you lose comfort or support. The yarn-based Primeknit upper is light and thin, but is strong enough to withstand consistent use.
Protection
The extra cushioning in the sole protects feet from hard surfaces. The Boost midsole helps protect your feet from the shock of hard surfaces. In regards to the upper, you won’t need to worry about feeling protected. The sturdy material throughout the upper will keep the foot protected from most hard and/or sharp objects that could potentially attempt to penetrate the sneaker.
Responsiveness
This running shoe thrives in the responsiveness category. The Boost technology in the midsole increases the responsiveness of this shoe. The energy pellets within the midsole come together to absorb the impact caused during running. This then transfers energy throughout the entire sole, giving the runner an energetic bounce as they are on the road. This type of responsiveness will enhance your run because you will feel more energized with each step, which is especially important when running long distances.
Support
This shoe neither enhances nor diminishes the arch support. If you have flat feet or in need of arch support, you will need to either add your own insoles or look elsewhere. Drop
Just like the regular ZG edition, the drop of the ZG Prime is measured at 10 millimeters. If you are the type of runner that likes to use your midfoot while running, you might not be the biggest fan of this measurement. A “good” heel drop is debatable, but 10 millimeters is decent for the average runner.
Stability
This is not a stability running shoe. However, it does provide a stable ride, especially towards the back of the shoe. There is a molded heel cup at the back of the shoe which holds the foot in place.
Flexibility

The outsole pattern on this sneaker does great with unstable surfaces such as wet roads/floors and would be fairly decent on grass as well.

The Adidas ZG Prime is a major improvement in the Pure Boost line. With this running sneaker, you get everything needed to reach your goals and then some. Adidas has applied their special technology in the ZG Prime, which takes it beyond the competition. This shoe represents a mixture of the best-fit upper and best Boost midsole available from Adidas. These sneakers can be used for jogging, sprinting, and even hanging out with friends. You can use them as a gym shoe, a trainer shoe, and for competitions. Furthermore, runners will feel as though they are running on air since their shoes are light, comfortable, and supportive. Overall, the ZG Prime is a great versatile running sneaker for athletes of any experience level.
