Upper
The upper of the Adrenaline GTS 15 is a mesh design, which has become very common in running trainers as of late. The mesh is no-sew and makes the shoe fit comfortably but also allows for a great deal of breathability. There is a liner within the upper as well, that is designed to wick away sweat from the foot. Like many mesh upper designs, the upper of these shoes is decent, but not outstanding in any way.
Midsole
The Adrenaline GTS 15 has a midsole made of a new BioMoGo DNA material designed by Brooks. This material provides a custom-like cushioning that adapts to your foot and your impact while running. This midsole material is different from other midsole options because it doesn’t provide a set, stiff amount of cushioning underfoot and instead adapts to your foot shape. The midsole of the Adrenaline GTS 15 also features an adjustable saddle to ensure a good fit for all runners. The midsole of the Adrenaline GTS 15 definitely offers a good deal of technology and is well designed, making it a fairly good component of the shoe.
Outsole
The Adrenaline GTS 15 outsole is made of a high impact resistant rubber which is designed to resist wear and tear as well as provide traction on smooth surfaces like roads and pavement. The outsole also features a Crash Pad, which is designed by Brooks to minimize the effects of impact on the foot and provide an overall more smooth ride.;Finally, the outsole has an updated version of grooves from previous models. The groove is shaped in a way to promote flexibility of the outsole while not compromising the cushion. Overall, the outsole is a very good piece in the Adrenaline GTS 15, and is one of its stronger features.
Breathability
The Adrenaline GTS 15 does not have any major problems in terms of breathability, mainly thanks to the solid design of the upper. The mesh is woven and allows air to flow throughout the shoe. This mesh design isn’t new by any means, but it certainly gets the job done. The Adrenaline GTS 15 is a decently well-ventilated shoe overall.
Comfort
The Adrenaline GTS 15 is a fairly comfortable shoe. The midsole is and the upper are strong components of this. The cushioning midsole material does a great job holding the foot while minimizing discomfort when striking the ground. The upper snugly holds the foot in place, giving a secure feeling. And finally, the overall flexibility of the shoe adds to its comfort as well. The Adrenaline GTS 15 is a fairly comfortable shoe.
Style
Brooks might not be in the same league as juggernauts like Nike and Adidas, but they certainly still hold their own. The Adrenaline GTS 15 has a fairly appealing design and is offered in a variety of bright colors for men and women. For those seeking a running shoe that can also be used as an everyday shoe, the Adrenaline is probably not the best choice. Overall, the shoes are decently stylish for running shoes, and the color selection is broad.
Durability
The Adrenaline GTS 15 is a fairly durable shoe, as most trainers from Brooks tend to be. A big factor in this is the HPR rubber located on the outsole. This rubber is high impact resistant, making it stronger and more durable than a traditional outsole. The Crash Pad also helps, with this, providing insulation from impacts for the midsole, which makes that last longer as well. Overall, the durability of these shoes is quite solid, as is to be expected of Brooks trainers.
Protection
In regards to protection, the Adrenaline GTS 15 does a pretty good job. The upper is a solid construction and does a good job securing the top of the shoe and protecting from outside elements. The midsole and outsole provide a secure base underfoot, which provides protection in the form of stability. The Adrenaline GTS 15 offer good protection overall for the type of neutral trainer they are.
Responsiveness
The Adrenaline GTS 15 has good responsiveness thanks to the BioMoGo DNA midsole. Th particular foam does a great job returning energy upon each foot strike. Most midsoles are made of a standard EVA foam, but this midsole is unique in how to customizes to the runner’s foot and provides responsiveness to the runner’s particular foot strike. With that said, the Adrenaline GTS 15 will probably not have as much responsiveness as a more minimalist shoe, considering that it is a more neutral and cushioned trainer.
Support
The Brooks Adrenaline series is well known for offering good support and stability and the Adrenaline GTS 15 is no exception. The aforementioned midsole BioMoGo DNA material provides good customized support, as does the Crash Pad located on the outsole. Both of these shoes also stabilizes the foot as well as provide cushioning. The upper is another contributing factor, offering a snug fit that secures the foot well without being too tight. Overall, the support of the Adrenaline GTS 15 is definitely a strong point of the shoe.
Terrain
The Brooks Adrenaline GTS 15 should be usable on basically any commonly runnable terrains. The construction of the outsole is solid and offers grips as well, similar to the design in terms of most popular trainers. The Adrenaline GTS 15 should be completely fine to use on most terrains, except tough, technical trails. Rain should not be a major hindrance either. The outsole provides traction on wet surfaces too. However, the upper of the shoe is not waterproof.
Price
The price of the Adrenaline GTS 15 is not really a strong or weak point of the shoe. It retails around the price of many common trainers nowadays. This is a bit disappointing when considering that the shoes came out several years ago. That said, the price is still fair for what you get. The shoes are neither a value or expensive, but somewhere in the middle.
Drop
The drop on the Adrenaline GTS 15 is 11 mm, which is slightly higher than average. For most, however, it seems to be a matter of preference, as many users have stated that the drop height does not bother them at all. For those who are used to running in a standard drop, there should be no issues with this shoe.
Stability
The Adrenaline GTS 15 is a very stable, neutral shoe but it is not a stability shoe. If you are looking for a shoe that will correct over or under pronation, then this shoe is not for you. However, it does provide some stability thanks to the adaptive BioMoGo DNA midsole as well as the Crash Pad and solid platform the outsole offers. Also the upper adds to the stability with its snug fit around the foot.
Flexibility
The outsole is a strong proponent of its flexibility, as it features grooves which allow for more range of movement. In addition to this, the midsole is flexible as well, thanks again to its unique material which allows it to react to varying amounts of stress accordingly. Finally, the upper is decently flexible with its mesh design, but not amazingly so. The flexibility of the Adrenaline GTS 15 is definitely quite solid.
Traction
The Brooks Adrenaline GTS 15 has pretty good traction. As most running shoes do, the Adrenaline GTS 15 contains a grip on its outsole that helps it stick to surfaces that are commonly run on. In general, the shoe works best on road-related surfaces like sidewalks, but the shoes should definitely still have solid traction in other terrains like grass or dirt trails. Keep these shoes off technical trails as they won’t provide enough traction on extremely rocky, rough terrain.
Bottom Line
The Brooks Adrenaline GTS 15 is a very solid neutral shoe for anyone seeking a new pair of trainers. There aren’t too many things that can be held against it, though in some areas like responsiveness and flexibility, it can only be described as decent. That said, it certainly does excel in other areas, and for the price, the Adrenaline GTS 15 would be a solid shoe for many.
