Upper

The Brooks PureFlow 6 upper features a seamless mesh that provides more comfort and aesthetic appeal. This upper has been completely renovated with a completely new technology, 3D fit Print, which at first glance gives us elasticity. This, however, does not lose the hold on your feet. This mesh is made of soft, high-quality materials. The upper also contributes to reinforce more natural movements, wrapping the foot with a smoother feel and an attractive look. In this version the fit of the shoes are more elastic, resembling a sock, so comfort has definitely improved.

Midsole

Its midsole measures 24 millimeters in the heel and 20 millimeters in the front. This is not exactly tiny but it does have less than the Ghost (30 millimeters) one of Brooks’ classic cushioning shoes. Its flexible midsole provides a feeling underfoot that has been described as enjoyable. You will even have the sensation of running barefoot, yet will still be protected from impact with every stride. It has deep grooves on its base in order for the bending movement in the foot to be freer. It also has enough material to cushion over a variety of distances. It features the new BioMoGo DNA LT technology, which fuses its BioMoGo midsole and cushioning technology while reducing weight by 10%. This is a lighter compound than the standard DNA, which translates into a more dynamic damping capacity, and which is able to adapt better in each stride.

Outsole

The Brooks PureFlow 6 outsoles are a mix of protection, comfort, and flexibility. You´ll be amazed regarding how flexible they are. The sole of the Brooks Pureflow 6 is curious, we say curious because it seems to be too thick for natural running shoes, but it is not. There are pressure grooves both in the heel and in the forefoot. There are also holes distributed throughout the sole that help improve the flexion of the Brooks Pureflow 6, and which provide greater grip and traction. Although there have been reports of some problems of adhesion in tracks and in surfaces that are wet, and that are not asphalt. However, in asphalt, its adherence is incredible, whether or not it is wet.

Breathability

These shoes have a fairly good breathability, nevertheless, there have been reports from some users that state that the upper wasn´t as breathable as they expected. The exterior material is synthetic, which could be the reason why the breathability these shoes have is fair.

Comfort

The Brooks Pureflow 6 fit in beautifully because the shoes are not too narrow and they allow the foot to breathe, without the feeling of going loose. This model has been completely renovated by obtaining a mesh, meaning all the fabric that covers the foot, which is much more comfortable and pleasant. Brooks Pureflow 6 continues to use the 3D Fit Print technology for a flawless fit. They feel a lot like a second skin since the first time you try them on because they fit in like a glove. Set the correct size of your Brooks Pureflow 6, and avoid a larger size if possible. There is no problem if we replace the insoles with some that we use. In fact, since the Brooks Pureflow 6 shoes are neutral, they are a suitable model for using personalized insoles.

Style

The new Brooks PureFlow 6 is a different type of shoe, both because of its appearance (it doesn´t seem like a running shoe until you turn it around) and the sensations it transmits. Now it is less ‘minimalist’ than at the beginning, but Brooks keeps trying to keep it as clean as possible, keeping the 4mm drop. Regarding the colors, there are some neutral ones and others, like fluorescent green and blue, that are a little edgier.

Durability

The material from which some of the main parts of this shoe such as the outsole is put in places where the intention is to increase the duration of the midsole by protecting it from continuous use. Nevertheless, these shoes were made to run in asphalt, so don´t use them for purposes other than that such as rock climbing or running in harsh surfaces for they will wear out much more rapidly. If you are a rookie, that hits the ground with your heels often and want to improve your technique, surely the shoe will be quite worn around 300 miles. This is a model in which you can hit with your heels occasionally. Durability sharply decreases the more you use your heels as the primary zone of impact.

Protection

It can be seen that the sole of the Pure Flow 2 is totally different than usual. It has more than a dozen relatively independent components and is surrounded by flexible grooves that grant that independence to the components. The truth is that if you are a racer that is susceptible to the sensations of the shoe, it will take a while (3 or 4 races) to get used to this type of sole. Regarding the collar, it´s safe to say that it has been very well designed. The collar is asymmetrical, with the outer face being shorter than the inner one, avoiding the risk of chafing against the bones of the ankle. Of course, it is necessary to speak of the element or “pod” placed in the arch. This pod is of crucial importance and Brooks has been using it for years in their shoes. It has multiple utilities, especially related to extra support in an area as important as the arch of the foot.

Responsiveness

In addition, the components in the sole that were mentioned bring a lot of things to the shoe: responsiveness to the terrain, flexibility, better distribution of forces at the base of the shoe, a much better grip and they improve stability with a broader base. It was designed for runners with a neutral foot and a medium or high arch. It offers a good response whether you are looking for speed or comfort in your daily training sessions.

Support

The Ideal Heel is a very simple technology that Brooks has implemented in all its PureFlow´s. It is a heel padded and very beveled, rounded and with a central longitudinal section. After testing these shoes it is true that it contributes to a better landing. Obviously, it is the runner who does all the work by trying to land with his or her heel as little as possible, but this geometry helps, making it easier for the runner. This is not something that changes the technique, but it is something that does not hinder, which helps to achieve the biomechanical goals that most runners want when acquiring a low drop model.

Terrain

The outsole is made up of Blown Rubber which offers great protection for your feet and for you not to fall. This rubber also has a good grip on other kinds of surfaces, but they work optimally in asphalt. If you necessarily must go through surfaces other than asphalt, the Brooks PurFlow 6´s will protect your feet, but you have to be extra careful and stones or nails could get stuck in the midsole. Definitely, do not use Brooks Pureflow 6 much in these areas.

Price

You can enjoy all the technological features these shoes have included for your comfort for just $100.

Drop

The Brooks PureFlow 6 keeps a characteristic low profile with the 4mm drop. In this delivery, Brooks has sought to maximize those feelings of touching the ground while using a running shoe that´s lighter and flexible. 24 millimeters in the heel and 20 in the front, make the Brooks Pureflow 6 respond formidably for the purpose that they were designed. The latter means to feel the ground and to get constant feedback from the earth´s feel. This combination allows a more natural stride in which we hit the ground without forefoot and not our heel.

Stability

These shoes also have a very important feature, which is the rounded heel. This characteristic improves body alignment, it disperses impact and reduces the load placed on joints, offering more protection against plausible injuries. The comfortable neck of the heel also provides great comfort without giving the sensation that this is a weak shoe. One of the best-designed parts is the platform of the midsole, which is generous in width, which multiplies stability. This is especially noticeable in the landing of your feet because it is incredibly effective and it contributes to the cushioning and better stability.

Flexibility

The 3D Fit Print coating strategically provides flexibility and structure for a flawless fit. This was already included in the PureFlow 5. The idea was to give the model a better support and an impeccable fit, thanks to the strategic combination of structure and flexibility. The lightness and flexibility of this minimalist model are achieved, in part, thanks to the new top-cut upgrade.

Traction

The sole of these Brooks PureFlow 6 is, play with the traditional forms of the American brand, with its rounded heel and a rubber compound that promises to give what is expected, grip and durability.

Bottom Line

All in all, the Brooks PureFlow 6 has improved the flexibility and lightness of previous versions to make a more comfortable, natural and efficient race in every covered mile. This sixth version of the PureFlow is designed to run short or medium distances and at medium speeds. These are shoes completely oriented to natural running so they are most recommended if you already have some experience in this world.;The Brooks Pureflow 6 are your perfect training shoes, although they adapt perfectly to any distance. Brooks is a sports company that produces footwear and high performance garments. It was founded in 1914 by Morris Goldenberg and his philosophy is based on the idea that running should be fun, and to make it fun, comfort is absolutely necessary. Without comfort the performance is difficult, and the fun is practically impossible. The Brooks PureFlow 6 a is suitable for becoming your regular shoes, as long as your body mass is not too high. You also should avoid using your heels when contacting the floor. Severe pronators should also refrain unless it is to modify racing mechanics.

Summary
The sixth version of the PureFlow Brooks Running series follows the same path their predecessors took. This means their focus is still on natural running. The Brooks PureFlow line comes from the years in which minimalism marked the trends in every brand. Brooks decided to make a collection of shoes inspired by that very need. That is, to run closer to the ground and with a more natural mechanic. But the clear difference of the PureFlow line regarding the other so-called ‘minimalists’, is that you get to feel enough cushioning under your feet. This is a model for runners with a neutral stride, and a light/medium bodyweight. PureGrit (trail), PureCadence (with extra support), PureFlow (cushioned), PureConnect (natural running) and PureDrift (the closest to minimalism), make up the Pure Project.
