Comfort

Many reviewers have been disappointed with the comfort—or, rather, lack thereof—in the JBL Everest 110. The in-ear section of the Everest 110 is larger than you might expect and will take some adjusting, furthermore, this in-ear unit is not especially flexible, making it even harder to get used to this bulky piece of plastic in your ear. However, this may not be entirely JBL’s fault: in-ear headphones tend to be more uncomfortable than other kinds of headphones anyway just because of the way they’re designed. As a point in their favor, the headphones do come with three separate pairs of angled ergonomic silicone eartips (plus three pairs of silicone ear fins), so you can try out each one to determine what shape and size is best for you. Despite this, though, it seems that the Everest 110 still failed in the comfort category—and considering that this is the single most important category for many headphone users, this is bad news for JBL.

Style

The design of the Everest 110 is sleek and attractive. Color options are blue, “gunmetal,” and white. The white headphones have silver accents on the in-ear section, and the JBL logo is featured very prominently. The stylish look of these headphones is appreciated by runners who enjoy having nice accessories, the headphones look well-made and of quality.

Activities

The in-ear design of these headphones means that they are appropriate for any and every sport—these headphones aren’t going to fall out. With these headphones securely situated in your ears (they come with three sizes of ear tips to ensure a secure fit), you can walk, jog, sprint, go cycling, or hit the gym with no worries, your music or podcast will still come through loud and clear.

Advanced Features

The Everest 110 does connect to Bluetooth (using Bluetooth 4.1). The connection distance is about 33 feet, and previous reviewers have reported that the headphones had a good solid connection without any skips or bumps. The headphones also have an echo-canceling microphone, which helps greatly in this area.

Connectivity

The Everest 110 headphones have Bluetooth connectivity available, using Bluetooth 4.1, for phone calls and for wireless music listening. On phone calls, the connection is strong and the distance of the connection is average. Music can be played through a smartphone or portable music player.

Ease of Use

All controls are located in easy-to-find places: the right cable holds the control remote, which has three buttons—volume up, volume down, and a central multi-use button. On the side, you will find a micro-USB charging port. Adjusting the size of the ear tips is also very easy: since the headphones come with three sizes of silicone ear tips (small, medium, and large), you can simply take one size out and pop another one in if something isn’t working for you. Overall, the Everest 110 is very user-friendly and should be no problem to figure out how to use—but if it is, an instruction manual is included.

Power Source

JBL advertises the Everest 110 as getting an 8-hour battery life off of a full charge (in two hours, the battery should be completely charged). The USB charging cable is 23 inches long, it’s a Type A USB on one end and a Micro-B USB on the other end. This length is more or less average—it’s nothing to write home about, but it should be plenty sufficient for whatever workouts you are doing.

Sound Quality

For many athletes, the sound aspect of their headphones is the most important part of the entire headphones for them—and rightly so, since music is so integral to many athletes’ workout routines. So luckily, the JBL Everest 110 scores well in this category. Legendary JBL Pro Audio Sound is used in the Everest 110 headphones. The bass is powerful and present (something that is sometimes lacking on in-ear headphones), and the bass response ranges very low—much lower than the bass response of other in-ear headphones (although it doesn’t sound accurate). The low-mid range sounds are present and crisp, and the high-mids and low-highs are the same. The frequency response is 10 Hz, while the sensitivity is 96 dB. The Everest 110 doesn’t seem to be lacking much in the sound category—the only potential issue is that, although the highs are certainly present, they aren’t as crisp as they could be.

Durability

Despite the delicate look of the headphones—they’re lightweight, only 0.56 ounces, and slender—the Everest 110 headphones are very durable. No reviewers have reported the Everest 110 breaking down in an untimely manner, this appears to be a very long-lasting pair of headphones.

Price

The JBL Everest 110 headphones are a bit expensive, but the good sound quality has prompted many users to buy them without reserve. The headphones come with quite a few extra items—three pairs of silicone ear tips, three pairs of silicone covers/sports wings, a cable clip (installed), a couple of helpful booklets, and a micro-USB cable. The only thing missing is a carrying case, which some reviewers were mildly upset about since the Everest 110 is advertised as being easily portable. Overall the headphones seem to be a good value for your money.

Bottom Line

Although JBL has not yet succeeded in creating the perfect headphone, the Everest 110 comes pretty darn close. Despite the fact that it doesn’t come with a carrying case—which is not a big deal to many athletes—the only real detriment is the discomfort factor. For the most part, the Everest 110 boasts a long list of accolades: its excellent sound quality thanks to Legendary JBL Pro Audio Sound, the long battery life, the in-ear design that means those ear tips aren’t going anywhere, and the sophisticated style that will make you proud to be seen in these headphones. JBL’s Everest 110 headphones are a great option for your next workout earbuds.
