Upper

Puma uses an Engineered Mesh for the upper of the Faas 600. This material allows for maximum airflow. It keeps the foot cool and dry regardless of the weather condition or length of the run. For additional breathability and comfort, Puma uses mesh panels on its upper too. This promotes the perfect fit because the material is flexible and light. Because of the softness and smoothness of the material, it reduces irritation and can be worn without socks. The upper is also designed with an Ortholite sock liner to help reduce odor and bacteria and increase the cushioning and comfort of the shoe.

Midsole

This shoe offers a unique midsole in that it actually is constructed using two different densities. The dual foam densities provide the runner with a fit that is both cushioned and supportive. The first layer, the one closest to the foot, is Puma’s patented FassFoam Lite. This material provides the runner with a comfortable, springy and cushioned base. This provides the runners with added support during their runs. A dual density foam is placed in the mid-sole unit.;The second layer, the one closer to the outsole, is the more durable and stable layer. This is the Faas Foam Infinity. This layer adds in needed durability to protect the runner from the road. It keeps its shape even after long miles. This layer provides the runner with more stability.;Finally, the midsole of the shoe offers the Faas Engineered Stability Zone. For the runner who is looking for added arch support and stability, this is an amazing addition to this shoe. It provides added arch support to improve the gait of the runner.

Outsole

Puma uses the EverTrack+ outsole for this shoe. This outsole adds considerable durability and longevity to the life of the shoe. In the forefoot of the shoe, runners can expect to find flex grooves that promote a natural movement and flexibility. This also promotes a toe-off gait cycle to decrease the chance for long-term injury to the runner.

Breathability

Regardless of the weather conditions you are running in or the distance you are going, the Engineered Mesh upper will keep your foot cool and dry. This light, airy material provides maximum airflow and keeps the foot comfortable. Since the upper is so soft and flexible and gives the runner a glove-like feel, runners didn’t feel the need to wear socks with this shoe, adding to the superior breathability of the Faas 600 S v2.

Comfort

Runners rave about the comfort of the Faas 600 S v2. The midsole of the shoe actually uses two different layers of midsole foam to create a customized, comfortable ride that promotes proper gait. In addition to this, the upper is made from a breathable, soft, material. It also comes with an Ortholite sock liner for added cushioning and support.

Style

With the Puma Faas 600 S v2, the first thing runners notice is the base of the shoe. Since this shoe has a thicker, larger base, this outsole stands out. Some runners loved this look, while others weren’t crazy about the aesthetic. This show also has limited choices in terms of color and pattern options.

Durability

This shoe offers durability in two main areas. First, the midsole is actually divided into two separate layers. This is not only beneficial to the runner because of the added comfort and support, but also because it adds an extra layer of durability. Since the midsole is broken into two layers, it is harder to break down and won’t be subjected to the wear and tear of other shoes. Additionally, the outsole of the shoe is made of a durable rubber that is specifically designed to protect the runner from debris on the road and protect the shoe from wear and tear.

Protection

The best way this shoe provides protection to the runner is through the durability of this product and the dual density in the midsole to provide the runner with arch support. The outsole is made from a durable rubber and the midsole features two layers of foam. Both of these features keep the shoe safe from quickly wearing down. Runners reported that this shoe lasted longer than other similar shoes. Additionally, runners can feel confident in the protection against bad form and injury that the dual midsole and the Engineered Stability Zone of the midsole provide the runner.

Responsiveness

The outsole of this shoe is durable but it is not overly thick. The flex grooves promote natural movement, but the added stability features of the shoe keep the foot from unwanted side to side movement. This reduces the responsiveness of the shoe, and most runners did not use them for speed work.

Support

This is a very supportive shoe, and runners reported that the added features helped them feel safe and comfortable on their runs. One support element of this shoe is the added Ortholite sock liner. It gives extra cushioning without adding unwanted weight.

Terrain

These road shoes have a decent amount of traction, but these still aren’t suggested for off-road trail adventures. The track and the pavement is the best place for the Puma Vaas 600 S V2.

Price

This shoe can be purchased for right around $100, which is the suggested MSRP. Puma is a trusted brand that is known for quality products. Likewise, the outsole and dual foam material of the midsole are extra durable which makes this a great investment because they won’t break down easily.

Drop

The heel drop of this shoe is 8 mm. This is a good option for a runner looking to transition to a natural and eventually a zero drop running shoe. It has been suggested that a runner doesn’t jump right from a traditional drop (of around twelve or thirteen) to a zero drop shoe because that could cause injury. Since this drop comes in right in the middle, it is a good shoe to add to your transition.

Stability

This shoe is great for the runner who is looking for more stability and especially arch support. In addition to the dual foam found in the midsole for support, the shoe also has unique engineering to support the runner who needs arch support. The Faas Engineered Stability Zone found in the midsole supports the arch of the runner to improve the overall gait and make each run more comfortable and successful.

Flexibility

The upper of this shoe is made from an Engineered Mesh which is very flexible and supports natural movement. It gives the runner a glove-like feel that is snug but never restrictive. Likewise, the outsole of this shoe is also very flexible. Although this is a stability shoe, the outsole features deep flex grooves that promote toe-off movement and allow the runner to move freely over the pavement.

Traction

The flex grooves found in the outsole of the shoe provide the runner with a higher level of traction than some other outsole designs. It wasn’t brought up much in reviews, but some runners commented that they liked this shoe for hill workouts because of its added traction.

Bottom Line

For the runner looking for added arch support and stability, this is a great shoe. With its 8 mm drop and its 9 oz. weight, this shoe comes in right in the middle for both categories. Its main highlights are the stability features it offers and the extra details that give the shoe a very comfortable feel.
