Upper

The Motion VI is equipped with a breathable mesh upper and 4-way stretch mesh metatarsal panels. These stretchy panels have a great amount of give and help the shoe better accommodate the shape of the foot which will add additional comfort. Additionally, these panels will help reduce any bunion hot spots that may occur in other sneakers. The sneaker also has a new tongue design which features a radial band to keep it in place during use and has foam cushioning on its back for added comfort. The semi-flat laces are kept in place with reinforced eyelets which provide a tight and secure fit. Extending around the entire shoe is a reflective pattern that will keep the runner visible in low lighting conditions.

Midsole

Newtonium foam cushioning makes its debut in the Motion VI. This new technology is designed to deliver more responsive cushioning closer to the foot. Placed between the upper and the unique action/reaction performance outsole, this technologically advanced foam will allow for a conformable and reactive land and takeoff without jarring the joints. Because this midsole cushioning lies closer to the foot, there is less energy loss allowing for a speedier stride. The comfort and technology of this midsole will result in better running performance. The Motion VI also boasts a removable ETC sock to promote a clean and healthy foot environment with its antibacterial properties.

Outsole

This sneaker’s outsole provides a great amount of support for high volume feet. The EMB (Extended Medial Bridge) is a small specialized piece of rubber that is placed on the medial side of the outsole, right where the arch is and is designed to provide broad stability without overcorrection. It also matches the shoe to the foot shape with its advanced architecture. The EMB is ideal for overpronators or for runners with flat feet but shouldn’t cause a problem for runners without these issues. On the forefoot of the outsole are 5 rubber lugs, an increase from the 4 on its predecessor, which add support and excellent rebound of the takeoff. If you look at the profile of the shoe, you will see that these lugs protrude slightly but when you wear the shoe, you feel the support of the lugs, not that they are in the way. The heel of the Motion VI is also covered with EVA rubber to protect the midsole from wear and help heel strikers not wear out the sole of the shoe.

Breathability

The lightweight seamless engineered mesh upper and 4-way stretch metatarsal panels provide a great amount of breathability. The manufacturing of the upper allows ventilation throughout the shoe and will keep feet feeling comfortable and cool.

Comfort

Between the lightweight, accommodatingly stretchy upper, cushiony midsole, and EVA-packed outsole, this sneaker is definitely comfortable. The sock lining makes for a comfy fit even if you run without socks on. Many users have said this shoe gives great support and comfort that you can feel as soon as you put it on. With that said, many users have also commented that the shoe runs a little small, so if you get the correct size for your foot, the Motion VI gets high marks for comfort.

Style

These are some pretty eye-catching sneakers. The two-tone colorways of both the men’s and women’s shoes are bright and visually appealing. The low profile of this running sneaker is surprising due to the fact that it is a stability running shoe. Many stability sneakers look bulky on the feet but these have a sleek and attractive design.

Durability

The outsole of the Motion VI is extremely durable. The 5 P.O.P. lugs on the forefoot, the extended medial bridge, and EVA rubber outsole makes these sneakers able to withstand a lot of miles. In fact, these shoes are designed for endurance runners and racers. The stretchable mesh upper will also allow for longer use because they are likely to wear better than if the mesh was made without the elasticity that these have. A pre-molded heel counter also helps the shoe keep its shape, giving it a longer life.

Protection

Unlike minimalist running shoes, stability sneakers are designed to keep feet stable through their engineering. The EVA outsole provides protection against road debris while also allowing for good grip on the roads. The Motion VI is sure to keep your feet safe and comfortable on even the longest of runs.

Responsiveness

This shoe gets high marks for responsiveness. The Point Of Power (P.O.P.) placement through the 5 responsive EVA lugs on the forefoot allow for smooth landings and springy takeoffs. Many users have commented on how quick they feel with these sneakers strapped to their feet. The Newtownium foam midsole is also a highly responsive feature in the shoe, providing cushioning and support close to the foot, allowing for a faster and more comfortable stride.

Support

Due to the fact that this is a stability running shoe, it offers an exceptional amount of support. The EVA outsole and EMB allow for a supportive step every time. This shoe fits well on any foot because of its 4-way stretch mesh panels and reinforced eyelets holding the laces. A good fit means good support.

Terrain

Even though the Motion VI has a durable EVA outsole, they are designed for road running where the P.O.P. system can properly react with the surface of the ground. The lugs on the bottom of the outsole may prove to be difficult to use on trails as they may get caught on things. The Motion VI is designed to be an endurance racing or training shoe so a smooth running surface is best, whether that be the road, sidewalk, or treadmill.

Price

This stability running shoe is priced pretty fairly in terms of being a responsive, comfortable, and well-design sneaker. It’s not the highest priced sneaker out there but will cost you more than many budget running shoes.

Drop

The Motion VI has a drop of 3mm, which is stamped right on the midsole. This is an excellent drop for pronators and endurance runners and allows for a comfortable and quick stride.

Stability

Stability running shoes are engineered to help pronators and flat-arched runners feel more stable and comfortable on their runs. The Motion VI rises to the occasion and delivers an excellent amount of stability through its P.O.P. and Extended Medial Bridge (EMB) features. There are a number of users that have sung the praises of how sure they feel in these sneakers.

Flexibility

Even though the forefoot of this sneaker is made up of 5 vertical lugs spreading across it, it is surprisingly flexible. Above this P.O.P. system, toward the toe, is a crease that extends across the outsole, allowing for flexibility. The Newtonium foam insole also aids in the sneaker’s flexibility because it is an engineered cushiony soft material designed to respond to flexibility and force.

Traction

The Motion VI provides a decent amount of traction with its P.O.P. lug system and EVA outsole. Many users have remarked at how well the shoe grips the ground and how it provides an up-tempo run with the help of the traction system. However, the heel portion of the outsole has a smoother pattern so if the runner is a heel striker, they need to exercise caution if they are running in wet conditions.

Bottom Line

Newton’s Motion VI sneaker is an excellent stability sneaker, especially for overpronators and flat-footed runners. The Extended Medial Bridge feature on the Motion VI is designed to provide a larger surface area for runners with these feet concerns, thus giving them the extra support they need. With that said, the EMB isn’t so intrusive into the feel of the shoe that this sneaker would be uncomfortable to anyone who doesn’t have these concerns, meaning that they would be good for anybody. The Motion VI is specifically designed for endurance and for racing. The P.O.P. outsole and Newtonium foam midsole deliver an extremely responsive and comfortable step so anyone looking to run miles upon miles will feel propelled forward, making them feel like speed-demons. Many users have commented on how comfortable and supported they feel when they wear the Motion VI and when they take them off, their feet feel great. The 4-way stretch in the metatarsal panels help feel snug and secure without any crowding and would be a great option for anybody with any feet concerns at all. Anyone looking to get some trail running in needs to pass on these, but if you are looking for a great responsive and stable endurance sneaker, then Newton’s Motion VI just might be for you.
