Upper
The upper of the All Terrain Super 2.0 is a complete redesign for the shoe. A tough, yet breathable skin panel (Kevlar-mesh material) comprises the entire upper. This material replaces a rigid fit frame found on the original model which many runners felt was too stiff and a source of irritation. Reebok also added a seamless DuraGrip toe box to lessen the risk of bruising and prevent irritation to the toes. A very comfortable, molded inner skin with anti-microbial properties helps enhance comfort and keep the shoe smelling fresh.;The tongue of the shoe has been redesigned to be softer and more flexible and not shift while running and climbing. The tongue also offers more padding to the top of the foot. New top reinforced lace holes labeled “lock and load” have been added and are designed to give the shoe an even tighter fit. The laces are unchanged from the original version which was a disappointment to most runners. The laces are thin, short, and easily come untied even when double knotted. Most runners wound up replacing the laces.
Midsole
A thin, compression-molded Ethylene Vinyl Acetate (EVA) foam midsole offers plenty of cushioning as well as shock-absorbing properties to the shoe. The midsole is low-cut which allows for a quick turnover and a soft feel. The EVA foam is very durable and has good responsiveness.
Outsole
The outsole of the All Terrain Super 2.0 is unchanged from the original shoes. It features moderately sized square lugs with adequate depth and aggressiveness to conquer all types of outdoor challenges. For better performance, the lugs are larger near the heel and decrease in size towards the forefoot. These lugs are very efficient in shedding mud. Obstacle course runners reported that the midfoot lugs were very effective for climbing ropes and scaling walls. A sticky rubber compound makes up the outsole and provides superior grip, even under slick conditions. A Rock guard in the outsole enhances durability and protects the foot from bruising.;Two drainage ports allow water to drain from the shoe. Many obstacles involve crossing water which makes drainage an important feature. Some runners had a problem with the drainage ports getting clogged with debris, but most said the ports worked well and are the best part of the shoe.
Breathability
The Kevlar-mesh skin panel of the All Terrain Super 2.0 is very breathable. The updated tongue of the shoe is perforated and helps draw air into the shoe. Because obstacle courses often involve water, most runners wear moisture wicking socks that do not retain water. The drainage holes in the outsole are effective for removing water from the shoe which helps the shoe dry quicker. Obstacle course runners know their feet are going to get wet, but how quickly the shoe dries can mean the difference of a comfortable run or one that results in blisters and chafing.
Comfort
Although redesigned from the top down, the overall structure of the All Terrain Super 2.0 is basically unchanged from the original. The shoe is meant to fit tight and many runners found it to be very narrow. The redesigned tongue helps with the pressure of the laces on the top of the foot which needs to be kept tight to keep debris from entering the shoe. Most runners raved about the drain holes in the outsole which do a good job of expelling water which would otherwise result in a soggy shoe. The Super 2.0 shoes are meant to be used on a race course and some sacrifices to comfort have been made to ensure a fast and agile shoe. Ordering a half size up may help the shoe feel a bit more comfortable as many wearers said the shoes run exceptionally small.
Style
All Terrain Super 2.0 comes in some unique colors. Men have a choice of Neon Cherry/Black/Solar Yellow, Excellent Red/Team Dark Royal/White/Black, Neon Blue/Handy Blue/Instinct Blue/Solar Yellow and a snakeskin camouflage design. The women’s version is equally interesting with a choice of Neon Blue/Handy Blue/Instinct Blue/Solar Yellow, Red Rush/Poppy Red/Neon Cherry/Flat Grey, Grey (just grey), and Solar Yellow/Fierce Fuchsia/Royal Orchid. The shoe has a sleek and durable look to it, but runners seeking more conventional colors may not be too thrilled with the color choices.
Durability
The original version of the All Terrain Super had some durability issues. The material of the upper was easily snagged and torn by rough obstacles and few shoes made it past 100 miles. Runners were happy to see that the 2.0 version upper had been replaced with a more durable Kevlar-mesh material and the addition of the thick rubber DuraGrip toe box helps keep the foot secure and protects the shoe. Despite the new enhanced upper, there were still some complaints of tears and rips after scaling tough obstacles. A rubberized material around the lacing holes helps keep the upper tight and the reinforced “lock and load” hole adds to the shoe’s durability.;The outsole of the shoe gets high marks for its durability. Because the shoe sees little road use, the outsole lugs suffer very minimal wear.

The water drains in the outsole provide an outlet for water that enters the shoe after a deep water obstacle or failed puddle jump. The tough rock shield in the outsole and the added thick rubber toe guard protect the foot from harsh terrain and grueling obstacles. The new upper is a great improvement over the original model and provides support and protection to the runner’s foot. These shoes were made for super wet, muddy conditions and offer 360-degree protection to the runner’s foot be it scrambling over rough walls or hauling up ragged ropes.
Responsiveness
The All Terrain Super 2.0 is a very responsive shoe. The flexible outsole, thin midsole, and durable upper all combine to create a feeling that the shoe is an extension of one’s foot. The All Terrain Super 2.0, as the name implies, is an OCR shoe that can tackle just about any kind of terrain. Runners can slog through water and mud with confidence and quickly transition to hard surfaces. The aggressively lugged outsole is designed to take on any challenge. Slippery balance beams, lumpy logs, vertical walls – runners had no problems scaling course obstacles. The shoes also did amazingly well with rope challenges where the spacing of the lugs on the outsole helped grip the rope and move the runner along. The shoe also did well on tough trails where rocks, logs, and roots were constantly underfoot.
Price
The All Terrain Super 2.0 retailed for $170 in 2014 but is down to $120 on most websites. This price is on par for a specialized shoe. Even better deals can be found on Amazon and other websites depending on the size and color choice. Many runners felt the shoe was overpriced at $170 due to its durability issues. A 3.0 version of the shoe has been released which has been redesigned yet again and is reported to be a more durable shoe. This shoe may be the better choice for any runner considering the Reebok All Terrain Super.
